30 April 06 - 14:56Results of my Anti-porkiness Campaign

A milestone has been reached. After about a month of dieting I have hit 219 pounds. I have set my current goal at 200 lb, which is still not ideal, but once reached it can be a time to form a new plan. I have been using the Adkins diet, it seems to work for me. I have been lingering at a very low carb level (what they call "induction"). It will be time to introduce more carbs once I hit about 210.
At any rate, its nice to get rid of the "dunlop" issue where my stomach done lopped over my belt (and the pants were damn tight as well). Time to go excercise or something.

Thanks to whoever sent me this as a forward. A lot of times the forwards are funny, but not snappy. Sometimes they are snappy, but not funny. This one is both. Thanks!!

22 April 06 - 12:38Ariban Coast Guard Reviewing Pictures
More from Aruba.
After the search by the Aruban Coast Guard ended, law enforcement and specialists on Aruba are studying underwater pictures for evidence.
It is evident in this picture that there is at least a chance of making a breakthrough of one kind or another.
Aruban officials studied this particular photo of a wreck at length and finally decided that the anomaly in the picture was NOT Natalee Holloway.
Can you see anything out of place in this picture?

20 April 06 - 22:02Aruban Coast Guard Calls off Search

The Aruban Coast Guard called off yet another search for Natalie Holloway today when a tip turned out to be a false alarm. Aruban citizens, energized by the showing of a Dutch television show whose name translates to "Arrest Requested" thought they had spotted a body floating in the ocean near the coast. The show is similar to the American program "Most Wanted."
Here we see a member of the Aruban Coast Guard pulling in what was thought to be a woman's body only to find it was an inflatable replica of a woman. As no owner claimed the plastic woman, members of the coast guard drew straws to see who would get to take her home.
Joran Van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers were not available for comment. Oh, yeh, and neither was the new "clean cut" guy.

18 April 06 - 23:04The Dog is Still Wet Behind the Ears and so is the Floor

The new dog has it made. He can pee on the floor and still be the "cute doggy." Even though there are a few "no no bad dog" statements floating around, the little dog seems to get a lot of "oh your're cute" statements, ear scratches, hugs, and tummy pets. There is also a lot of holding in the lap and baby talk to the new mutt. I can only figure I would get the same treatment if I were to occasionally pee in random spots about the house or whatever other bad behavior I might exhibit. Certainly I would get understanding and warmth since the behavior is only a passing fad. Right? I am just learning!
Wish me luck with the new dog. The bottom line is this; personally I am tired of coming home every night and finding a yellow spot on the linoleum. The wet spots are happening less often, however. From the dog, that is.

16 April 06 - 10:37Take This!!!!

This is another precious video I had to share. Someone sent this to me in an email (thanks you) and I really don't know where to find it on the web or how old it is.
This is great, however. In this video a live feed from Jacksonville Beach, Florida takes an entertaining turn when a drunk bar patron expresses her views. Take a look:

07 April 06 - 20:43Streaker at The Colony

I heard about this at work today and then when I found out it happened just outside a friend's house I had to investigate further. Now that I have seen this you
MUST as well!! Beware, however, the video is not censored.
What you will see is a live newscast at the source of a brush fire. Shortly after the remote feed starts a streaker toots an airhorn and glides by the camera, derrierre disappering into the distance.
Take a look see at the link below!!

06 April 06 - 21:36Elective Amputation
Definition: Body integrity identity disorder: (BIID) A psychological condition in which the individual actively seeks an elective amputation. Individuals with the disorder have the persistent desire to have their body physically match the idealized image they have of themselves. This desire forces individuals to deal with the paradox of losing one or more limbs to become whole.
I am watching this on ABC-Primetime. At first I thought it was an April fool's joke story. Checking around on line shows it is real.
Here is an article
here about the syndrome. An example is given of a man who had his leg amputated at the age of 50 and was delighted. Losing the leg to become "whole."
Here is the link to the ABC webcast of the segment
ABC Prime Time - Medical Mystery. The webcast takes only a short time to load in DSL or better and lasts about 8 minutes. This is truely a strange occurance. Just when I think I know what normal is something like this pops up.

05 April 06 - 21:46Doesn't Anybody Think for Themselves Anymore?
Dateline: BOSTON 4-05-06 "Lawmakers have approved a sweeping health care reform package that dramatically expands coverage for the state's uninsured, a bill that backers hope will become a model for the rest of the nation."
Let's compare this "model for the nation" to Texas. What kind of a fit do we have here...
In Massachusetts 12% do not have health coverage, in Texas it is 25%. On a per person basis this means that twice as many people need to have their insurance provided. Lets check the other end of the spectrum.... 17% of Texans are below the poverty level, only 9% in Massachusetts. You figured it, twice as many poor people per person in Texas.
So far we see that twice as many Texans do not have health insurance as Massachusetts and two times as many are below the poverty level. This is a cost factor of 4X to support the uninsured.
Oh, yeah, the average income in Texas is $41,000 and $52,000 in Massachusetts.
So a bunch of "well to do" democrats in Massachusetts are saying that We should follow their lead. I think they can afford it and they should do it. It would be four times the cost per paying person in Texas with a lower income to boot. Perhaps Massachusetts can become a magnet for the folks that are not insured in Texas. The nice term is illegal alien. These are people who come from a country where the free medical care in Texas for uninsured poor people is better than the care in their own country.
I think Texas should get extra credit for already providing health care for millions of uninsured who are not even citizens through the county hospital systems. Get real liberal press, come take a look at an emergency room at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. We pay. And the folks we pay for are not even Americans.
Oh, by the way, I do not mean that these are not nice people, they simply are what they are and healthcare provided for free is healthcare provided for free no matter how it is done.
Wake up Americans, with the internet there is no excuse for you to exist stupid and believe this political trash. Learn to think and analyze. Even if you are not a citizen the rest of us Americans probably gave you a free education, and probably in your own language.

03 April 06 - 21:11Accessing the Radar Screens

It has been a major effort building the weather stations and links so you can see your local radar. I did check it with several browsers and found that the default settings on Firefox may need a tweak. Firefox must allow images to pass through from sites other than the originating site.
While this may prevent sneaky sites from using an image to detect your presence in cyber-net-space, it will also prevent you from viewing the radar.
Default settings on other browsers work fine. Firefox works fine once the image setting is changed.
Enjoy your weather!! The link is on the right titled
"Weather Radar Links".

03 April 06 - 01:00Weather Radars are now Installed
I have been slaving away all week setting up weather radar for those of you who read the blog.
I am nearly done setting things up.
By studying the map you can see where the weather radars are located.
I will link them to the website later this week.
Thank you for your patience.
