A Great day to be a Dog
It was a gold star day for the dog. Anabel is our family pet, a coon hound mix that we obtained from the dog pound folks for the price of a free vaccination. As a coon hound Anabel is a hunting dog.Mostly she hunts in the kitchen. She has found that her prey will fall on the floor during hunting season which is dinner time. If so much as a pea hits the floor, it (and any lingering taste) is quickly and effectively reduced to a memory.
Tonight was a very special day for the dog. During the course of making burgers for dinner on the grill an errant beef patty did a double back flip onto the patio. Anabel immediately surrounded her prey and pounced. I heard a snarf, chomp, and a burp and the burger was only a memory. A quick search of the surroundings revealed, with certainty, that the hamburger was gone.
In order to help you understand the difficulty of this form of hunting, I have included a crude simulation of the burger in its last moments. Good job Anabel!!!
