New Challenge, New Day
Today is the big day. I will be taking on a new challenge. I am moving out of the world of pseudo-high tech fiber optics into the world of alternate energy.
As a technology, fiber optics at the connector level is very low tech. You glue and screw parts together and ship them out the door. Most of the issues with the product comes from non-technological issues and in the company I have just left they have plenty of those.
New challenge? The first thing will be development of an ethanol producing appliance which will produce ethanol in medium sized volumes. These volumes are somewhere in between moonshine stills and the large ethanol plants found in the midwest. The purpose of the ethanol will be for use as energy.
This is the good side of anything commercial, it is the white sheet of paper and the green field side of an idea. The first item on the agenda is defining the project well enough to hire a staff of people to develop the machine, and beyond.
Sounds fun enough and maybe even easy enough. We shall see how fun and how hard it is. I respond well to positive challenges and stressors. They invigorate me. I respond poorly to stupid stress, it depresses me.
I see no stupid stress ahead for some time. I am ready to have at it. Wish me luck in my new job.
